Making a Difference in Mhotivo

The Mhotivo School Foundation was founded in 1992 to provide safe, accessible space for students in Honduras to learn about math, science, history and the arts, as well as having access to technology and gaining technical skills.

“During my travels to Honduras over the past 10 years, I have witnessed the incredible impact of the Mhotivo School on local children and their families. This investment is a testament to the hard work of the school’s staff, the success of their students and to the inspiring vision of a few community leaders.”

— Renton Leversedge, Chief Development Officer

On December 7, 2022, the first stone of the primary school expansion for the Fundación Mhotivo was laid in Choloma, Honduras. This event was partially made possible by SanMar’s growing investment in the school, building on the opportunity for more students in the area to have access to a quality bilingual education.

We are proud to support the important work of the Mhotivo School and its positive impact on the nearby community of Choloma, where many of the families of our factory partners live and work.

In partnership with the W. Duke Kimbrell Family Foundation, an affiliate of yarn manufacturer Parkdale Mills, our funds will support:

  • 22 additional classrooms
  • A new computer lab
  • Administrative offices
  • Enrollment of 600 additional students
